Tsinghua SEM Undergraduate Ruan Lufei Wins Team Gold at World Mind Sports Games

Chinese women's team has claimed the gold medal for the rapid chess at the World Mind Sports Games on October 17, 2008. Ruan Lufei, currently a third-year undergraduate at Tsinghua SEM, took part in 11 games as member of Chinese team during the 13 events in the primary, the semi-final and the final of the women's team rapid chess, with a record of 7 wins, 3 draws and 1 loss. Ruan also took part in the Team Blitz held the day before in which China took the silver.

The 1st World Mind Games have attracted more than 3,000 players from 143 countries and regions. Bridge, Chess, Go, Draughts and Xiangqi were on the program.

Ruan Lufei was admitted to Tsinghua SEM in 2005, majoring in Accounting. She gained the Woman Grandmaster (WGM) title in 2007. She has won gold medals at World Chess Championship (women's team), Asia Chess Championship (women individual) and Asia Indoor Games. The SEM junior keeps an excellent academic record at the mean time. Her GPA of the third year achieves 90.6, among 5% of her major.
